IMECC Data policy
Agreed text on the IMECC data policy (.pdf) by the project consortium during the first annual meeting on 3-5 March, 2008 in Jena (Germany) at Max Planck Institute
IMECC Data Policy
IMECC will provide open and timely access to data of evaluated quality under conditions of fair use. IMECC will make available rapid delivery data of the best possible quality. However in using such data, any data user accepts the inherent limitations of such data, for example lack of validation and of various corrections. The quality of the data for each revision will be described in the accompanying information for each revision.
A dataset is defined as a time series of measurements of a physical quantity at a given site.
Each IMECC dataset will be provided continuously in a two-stage process.
Every dataset will specify release times (days after measurement) for both these releases.
Details of policy:
• Every datum will be associated with a measurement uncertainty either explicitly or via metadata
• Only the current revision of the dataset will be visible at any time but all revisions must be recoverable.
• Any data user accessing a dataset for the first time must register. This registration will be verified by an email to the user’s address which must be confirmed. Registration will only be necessary once.
• All downloads of data will be logged and the registration details made available to data providers on request.
Citation of NRT data
Anyone using IMECC-NRT is agreeing to acknowledge its authors. The first step is to contact the providers, and questions of citation should be part of this contact. In every case IMECC-NRT should also be referenced as:
and the IMECC project must be acknowledged in the following way:
We acknowledge the support of the European Commission through the IMECC Integrated Infrastructure Initiative (I3) project under the 6th Framework Program (contract number 026188)
and in a list of references as:
